Sometimes living life is so consuming that you don't have time to actually write about it. (And yes, in case you didn't already gather, that's my excuse for not having updated in 9 days.)
That being said, what have I been up to? Well... living.
I don't know how many times I've already said that I'm happier now than I've been in some time, but since I never get sick of saying it, I'll go ahead and write it again. There is something so electrifying, so mind-altering, so refreshing about knowing that each day you wake up and do what you want in the name of your dreams. For the first time in my life I am forging my own path and creating my own destiny. The journey, while stressful at times, is nothing short of wonderful.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not pretending for a second that I'm not often broke and sometimes starving. But the only thing I miss about my corporate life is the $1300+ that was happily deposited into my bank account every other week. For those of you who are still pushing pencils and bound to a desk, that may be hard to comprehend. Just take my word for it.
But enough rambling! The image above was snatched from the LA Weekly blog-- M.I.A had a secret warehouse show in downtown LA, and the lovely and generous DJ PaseRock snagged a couple of tickets for me and my friend Val. Overall, it was OK. M.I.A's set was brilliant in that her music and energy are infectious and phrenetic... but she went on at 1am and played about 4 songs. After 3 hours of listening to 4 different DJs play electro-hiphop-house music, I was hot (there was NO air-conditioning in that place and it was packed from wall to wall!) and I was completely knackered, so I just couldn't get into it. Perhaps if I'd been half as drunk as the rest of the indie-folk, urban outfitters/american apparel, neon-loving crowd, I would have enjoyed it much more...
