Girl, You So Well Spoken!

Life is all about appreciating the small stuff, right?

So on this damp and dismal Wednesday, when night has fallen and I'm still at work, I thought I'd share my silver lining with my loyal (or passing) readers!

My horoscope:

Virgo: The best is yet to come. If you are bombarded by conflicting signals and confusing emotions, just sit tight. Don't be provoked into breaking off a relationship unless you wish it to be permanent.

I've never been a huge fan of the Zodiac. First of all, I was raised in a very strict Christian environment, so following things like the Zodiac was frowned upon and tagged as un-Christian like. That being said, the Zodiac and the concept of star/sun signs is intertwined in many cultures, so even though my parents were definitely not the fortune-teller-visiting kind, my mom would still come to conclusions about people's personalities based on what sign they had--particularly men. For example, "Your father was a ___ which is why he was always so ___" and etc, etc.

Secondly, it seemed to me that I never quite fit into the confines of my star sign. Born on the 7th day of September, I'm supposed to be a Virgo. My Christianity and skepticism about mystic things made me raise my eyebrow at my horoscopes and dismiss them as Miss Cleo mumbo jumbo... while I fit in with some typical Virgo traits, I'm just not as anal and reserved as the Earthy Virgo sign says I should be...

Well today I was consulting the ever so reliable Wikipedia and stumbled over something interesting. Apparently, there are 2 Zodiacs, and the signs we all know and identify with belong to the Tropical Zodiac. In this Zodiac, the 12 signs correlate with their respective constellations, which most people know. What I bet you didn't know, is that those signs are no longer associated with those constellations because of the procession of the equinoxes. So that brings us to the other Zodiac--the Sidereal Zodiac.

Anyway, according to this Sidereal Zodiac, my whole life has been a lie. I'm not a Virgo, but a Leo.
